Welcome to Martin Van Buren National Historic Site. The eighth U.S. President lived at Lindenwald from 1841 until 1862. His purchase of the 137 acres and 18 room home allowed him to follow the precedent set by the first seven presidents who had farms to return to after their time in office.
The grounds are open 7:00 am until sunset. The visitor center is open daily mid-May through October from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Information about house tours and other programs is available there.
This cell phone tour corresponds with eleven stops on the 3/4 mile Lindenwald Wayside Trail.
